S
pring. It is a time of characteristic renewal and (enriching) regeneration when our thoughts routinely veer to returning to the outdoors, to that of Mother Nature's resplendent rebirth and her beautiful seasonal bounty, and too enjoying the sunny days ahead; a time when we will experience that first seasonal gust of warmth and flash of blossoming colour that collectively enliven our creative spirits and carry us into summer; it is, in other words, the perfect occasion to steady our wills to the task of freshening up (or perhaps simply further refining upon) both our signature looks and seasonal wears to not only best reflect the changing environment but to properly ready them for the sartorial transitions awaiting on the horizon.

Having said that, it is also arguably the time of year in which -- as Mother Nature herself can stand as an exemplary testament to — first impressions matter more so then any other.

Just ponder, if you will, the irrefutable psychological power of waking to budding bouquets of flowers and prolonged sunshine (that simply beg for our attention and more lively dressage) rather then to rainy/snowy, drab affairs (that often have us retreating indoors) and how that (natural) first impression plays a strong hand in regards to how we settle our resolve while setting out to attire ourselves to best suit the ever-evolving conditions.

In matters purely sartorial, I tend to believe that a Mother Nature-like form of (initial and lasting) impressionable power is strictly contained within our (seasonal) outerwear of choice as there is indeed no other article of clothing that speaks more immediately (upon first take as well as on a routine basis) or prominently (let alone as loudly) of our implied character, intentions and tastes then that of our preferred protective outer shell.

Typically the last piece we put on and the first in which people will come to weigh and adjudge us upon, a proper coat or jacket that befits not only our unique brand of style but also the environment in which we live in and the occasion in which it is earmarked for is a sartorial prerogative unlike no other that wields immense powers of impression much akin to those imparted every morning by Mother Nature during her most affected season of lively transition.

For you see, your outerwear is often tasked with not only safeguarding you from the seasonal deluge of unpredictable elements but with helping you make that ever important first (and lasting) impression that is carried with you wherever life leads you.

In that manner, it can be said that a lot can be gleaned from it at simple glance, details that range from that of your innate taste in style (i.e. traditional vs. trendy) and seriousness of (professional) intent through perhaps your very destination or even the underlying nature of the event or social affair that you are venturing towards — think over/topcoats of all sorts for businessmen and anything from denim jackets through bombers for those whose are sauntering about town at their leisure.

My point being is that when considering what outerwear to settle upon this season its best to keep in mind that when you purchase a jacket you are not only acquiring a protective shell that is tasked with making the first impression but are moreover buying into its connotative spirit, cultural cache, and implied lifestyle aesthetics.
spring-outerwear-style-lookbook…
Be that as it may, today I have before you today a finely curated collection of spring outerwear picks that are sure to appeal to a broad spectrum of tastes, habits, and specialized occasions.

Arriving fashioned in everything from muted seasonal neutrals (such as green, the defining colour of the season) and crisp whites (with a modern take on the classic denim jacket being of note) through playful artwork designs and heritage tartans, it is an all-encompassing outerwear buffet replete with tasteful offerings that characteristically impart style and substance in equal spades.

All eminently practical yet stylish (to differing breeds of discerning eye that is), this is spring outerwear that you can find comforting solace within all spring (and summer) long whether beset with rain or shine, bundles of bountiful bouquets or dreaded downpours…
