I
n an industry rather stricken by (seemingly) contradictory paradoxes, where many desire to be bold yet understated (or rather yet traditional albeit tastefully fashionable) in their signature styling habits, is there a place for a suit that is at once both truly office ready and completely swimmable?

I’d imagine so, as did swimwear turned luxury lifestyle specialist's Orlebar Brown whose collaborative partnership with one Mr. Gerry McGovern (who is the Design Director of Land Rover) gave birth to what is a truly innovative and industrious suit purposefully designed to characteristically (and actively) split its time between high seas adventure and boardroom politics.

The highlight of what is an exclusive, limited-run collaborative capsule collection, its unique water-resistant and quick dry form arrives courtesy of a luxurious Italian cotton blended fabrication that is aesthetically defined by an intricate white weft design that mimics the visual nuances of real chambray.

And the result?

A completely swimmable suit with a truly authentic finish
that is distinctively earmarked by a surprisingly serendipitous charm, a playful spirit, and a slimly tailored, fully deconstructed silhouette (i.e. unlined with soft shoulders) that is considerably airy and arguably peerless in its applicational versatility and general ease-of-wear.

Being of the rare four-piece suit breed (completed with an interchangeable pair of tailored swim shorts), it would not be a stretch to claim that it is assuredly well-equipped and positioned to bring a rakish (and sartorially elegant) form of élan to the otherwise conventionally informal beach wear realm.

A true modern gem that (when solely taken at face value) is refined albeit not pretentious, it must be said that at its core it is simply a refreshing interpretation of the warm-weather suit genre that is wholly capable of functioning as a proper seasonal suit alternative at the office (in lieu of the traditional three season wool navy suit) or casually as a lively replacement for the commonplace tan-hued linen summer suit in ones resort, tropical, or summer wardrobe.

Howbeit, is it a harbinger of evolutionary change to come in the formalwear domain — a dawning of a new prevalent form of suit (as it were) ?

Highly unlikely, but it does nevertheless disprove the widely held belief that tailoring is characteristically preordained to be naturally frail or to exist solely in the professional realm and far away from the open sea.  Be that as it may, I do believe (at the least) that it warrants proper consideration as a fashionable alternative to your typical summer suit, albeit one in which you could swim in should the temptation arise.
orlebar-brown-swimmable-suit-quote- (monk + eero)
Insofar as much, I do dare say no longer will man need fear the notion of sullying his suit (and sartorial reputation in the process) should he be caught carelessly bereft of his umbrella or proper tactile outerwear in an downpour, nor will he be left wanting in choice or wearing his wool formalwear trappings year-round if in possession of this fine (innovative) sartorial specimen.

That being said, here’s to a truly unique suit unlike any other whose fine form and discerning sartorial brushstrokes were fashioned with highly stylized adventure of both the surf and turf variety on mind.

Has this introduction piqued your interests?

If so, read on for a more in-depth look at this unique piece as well as to discover 6 different ways to best wear it (or perhaps your go-to seasonal navy-hued suit of choice) all spring and summer long…

With that I do believe that we have drawn upon the conclusion of this feature with all left to be covered being the proposal of a few additional seasonal suit alternatives — available at various monetary buy--ins — for those simply looking to freshen up their wardrobe regimen for the upcoming warm-weather season(s).

Mind you, it must be noted that these are indeed not swimmable suits like O.B's so do not proceed to taking them for run on the high seas or for a dip should the desire strike…
