Words + Photos ~ By Lyle Eero ~ September 3, 2015
With that said, it was certainly a pleasure to experience — in spite of its fleeting nature — a brief retreat from the stresses of creative freelancing and the accompanying demands of attempting to successfully develop and nurture a charmingly enticing and fruitful personal brand — which as of late has included (on top of launching a renewed social media strategy) the scripting of my upcoming eBook, the founding of a (soon to be launched) regional fashion industry networking organization, guest blogging appearances and brand partnership negotiations, and to no lesser extent, the daily responsibilities of styling my own personal (often editorial length; no #ootd posts here…yet?) gentlemanly style + culture blog posts (which often take 2-3 complete days to format & publish: layouts, graphic designs and photography, and writing/editing). And seeing as time has flown by since I last visited my Summer Style Odyssey series, I felt it appropriate to implement the second chapter of that series into this long overdue day trip.
Point being, I simply needed to reset my creative energies, to liberate myself from the screens and enjoy the outdoors, and too experiment with my recent photographic acquisitions — a Nikon DSLR and a budding educational knowledge base that have both been craving to be put into practical use. This all coalesced into being the perfect lead-in opportunity to my prolonged attempt at a (on a personal level) new form of blog post that is ostensibly both universally popular and omnipresent amongst bloggings biggest style influencers: the photo diary post.
And seeing as summer is — thankfully — still standing astutely relentless in its nature, I decided to channel a look for this photographic journey that spoke to both the beauty of mother-nature as well as to the man-made archetecture that I was exploring. It is an aesthetic that pays respects to the occasion by complimenting a tonally classic summer nautical base (white + blues) with a singular statement piece up top (polka dot blazer) and gentlemanly refinement down low (suede tasseled loafers). It is a studied look featuring pops of colour, contrasts in design, and seasonally appropriate construction and materials — which all work in tandem to afford a level of comfort that for many gents is simply a luxury in the summer. In doing so, I've curated pieces in which whose material DNA are quintessential to both the inclement seasonal conditions we face as well as too the unrelenting gentlemanly aesthetic of casual refinement that I aspire towards on a daily basis; breathable linens, lightweight cottons, and suede tasseled loafers that speak to a more sophisticated yet laid-back and comfortable style that pays homage to both my own personal sartorial proclivities and my generally optimistic outlook on life.
Alas, what you have just be privy to is my attempt at fulfilling said desires, and I hope you have enjoyed it.
And, if you like any of the pieces I spotted during the trip, click the link below for your any outfit inspired shopping desires you may have; if not, then I can only hope that you have been (even in the slightest of ways) somehow entertained by my stylish exploration of my adopted hometowns renewed waterfront district and its cultural offerings.
