Sartorial Reflections: The Summer That Was

9/24/2015

All my featured seasonal blog posts — editorials, style photo journals, outfit inspirations, and cultural style muses — in one convenient and personally reflective package
Picture
The summer of colour!  It is an apt moniker, all matters considered, as I observed — present company included — more gents embracing an unreserved wardrobe palette of outright colourful expression and genteel refinement this past season then in any other that I can seemingly recall —perhaps ever!
Everything from muted pastels to vibrant (peacockish) statement pieces were put on full confident display for all to behold and (hopefully) appreciate; and I for one could not be happier that the collective views of both the influential powers that be and the general sartorial masses aligned into forming a creative force that inspired what was simply (if but nothing else) an aesthetically pleasing season for gentlemanly practitioners (and admirers) of style and fashion alike.

It should be of little surprise then that you too have been (if you follow along with me) or will be (if this is your first time visiting…hello and welcome as well) privy to some examples of those colourfully inspirational looks in action (or in curated inspirational outfit) whilst acquainting yourself with my humble corner of the style realm — scattered amongst my collected summer style featured posts.

And in due course, what you will have also discovered is that I have taken quite a fancy to crafting editorial-like features that weave history and modern culture into the style narrative — they are my so called cup of tea.

Yet, it has been a busy summer so there have been quite a variety of posts to satiate a multitude of differing tastes: photographic style journals; culturally inspired style muses; gentlemanly looks of the month picks; (event specific) curated outfit inspirations; and classically influenced lifestyle (style/culture/decorum/et al.) and advice (+ tips) posts — all in which anxiously await your reflective examination below.

So without further ado, here is a (headlining) summary of the collective stylish works in which made up my inaugural summer of blogging…

STYLE + CULTURE EDITORIALS

classic gentlemanly style (monk + eero)
spy style (monk + eero)
modern courtship: a gentleman's guide to dating in style (monk + eero)
glamping - vacations for stylish gents
french riviera style - monk + eero
the modern gentleman: a manifesto (monk + eero)
wimbledon: the style + culture (monk + eero)
style passage pieces - monk + eero

My preferred — and favourite — feature blog post delivery outlet.

Brimming with sartorial history, modern applications, and classic advice and inspiration, my editorials are what I would deem the quintessential reads found (and recommended) on my website for aspiring gents (and my stylishly curious female friends and followers) of all monetary and cultural means.

They are essential pieces for those seeking authentic — and contemporarily relevant — gentlemanly styling advice; for those interested in having/acquiring true gentlemanly style, not being content with simply being stylish in their wardrobes and personal aesthetics alone.

PARTING WORDS

Fall is officially upon us, but the 2015 summer season will forever be one of special consequence to yours truly, if not simply for the fact of it representing a new chapter in my life — the one in which I finally broke down and made the career (and life) decision to pursue creative freelancing (styling/fashion writing/creative curation) and blogging full-time.

And it is in playing to that tune that I can proudly announce that I've seen exceptional growth in readership/visitors/clientele/collaborative partnerships over the past two months and I have you wonderful lot to thank for it all (now only if I can convince a tiny few of you to eagerly sign up for my quarterly style + culture newsletter: bit.ly/1LFM1nM). For you see, I could not have done it without your backing and encouragement…so thank you again!

As such, and at the end of the day, it is my simple (and sole) desire that some fraction (either big or small) of the styling advice and gentlemanly console that I've provided has been taken to heart, changing your lives in some way for the better — whether that be in just helping you dress properly or in aiding you in fulfilling your overarching developmental goals (personal and professional).

But, back to the topic at hand: summer.

While most gents would regard the A/W season as the most enticingly opportunistic time for stylish gents to be in full peacock mode, of fluffing their sartorial features to the upmost of versatile degrees (layering, layering, and more layering), I have always been one who has personally found the highest degree of stylish solace in the colourful palettes and the timelessly chic aesthetics (Riviera in particular) that the summer season puts on the sartorial platter — and that is why I look forward to it the most of all seasons (its stylish versatility/options; the colours; the weather; the outdoor activities; and the seemingly omnipresent joie de vivre).

So, here is to the summer that was, too its collective sartorial glory, and to those yet to come — may they be as stylishly refined and vibrant as the one we have just experienced.

Now, on to autumn and its promise of renewal…

Cheers!
