letter-N
ew year, new you…that is most assuredly a cliched ideal that many of us are all to well accustomed to hearing spouted verbatim from all corners of life — be it from friends, the media, or entertainemt world — for far too long.

Having said that, a New Year is (understandably) regarded by most as an opportunity to turn over a fresh leaf  — to recharge, renew, or even perhaps to completely overhaul and re-fashion one's life in some manner thereof.

Be that as it may, that needn't mean that all that has transpired from the past year (or even years) be simply discounted and thrown asunder merely for starting over just for the sake of the notion itself (ie. just because prevailing social mores call for it).

Case in point: the underlying foundation and prevailing characteristic structure of your personal style (which should be tastefuly consistent and reliable above all else).

Having routinely espoused upon the virtues of permanent style and the enduring merits of curating a signature uniform (and wardrobe)  whose core is fashioned from a variety of  timeless essentials that are (nearly all) plucked from the evergreen stable of classic menswear staples — those in which are universally flattering and timeless in form and function — it should be quite evident to deduce that I am indeed a firm believer in (and relentless champion of) a peculiar brand of sartorial discourse that explicitly calls for the carrying over of one's innate tastes for fashion and his distinctive ( as well as distinguishing) form of dress from one year to the next with but a few well considered, subtle changes (and experimentations) being made (as needed or required) along what will essentially become a life-long journey of creative fine-tuning.
Picture
As such, I believe that your style should be simple in its ease-of-wear and classic structuring, failsafe and faultless in its execution, and comfortably reliable in its creative essence; in other words, don't be a slave to trendy fashion or carelessly aloof in your styling choices — be precise, calculating, and honest with yourself at all times.

To that account, and with that firmly in mind, what rests before you today is a collection of the most popular features and style inspiration from the year that was on the M+E style journal that you can bookmark (if need be) as well as reference for years to come in additional to a few personal musings on who I believe was the most stylish gentleman (both real + fictional) to have electrified photo lenses and enchanted silver screens alike in 2016 alongside that of my choice selections for the best and worst trends to have hit the menswear domain these past 12 months.

So, as I endeavour to continue in my active pursuit of crafting only the finest informative, inspirational, and entertaining content that comes to mind (and prominence) throughout this newly christened year, here's to first acknowledging what were the greatest hits (and misses) of this last (most eventful) year…
