May: Style of the Month

May Style Template

For those rainy/colder days that just beg for you to bring a little bit of your own stylish splash to the world… I've got your bases covered (and your shoulders and head as well):
May showers often bring the proverbial flowers, but not this year (not up here in Canada anyways); I've experienced everything from hail and below zero weather to temperatures in the upper 20's (celsius)...even on the same day. And in between that, rain, rain and more rain. Yet, and despite this post being a tad late, this outfit inspiration should not be relegated to just this month being as it can most certainly be carried over to those rainier/colder days of summer awaiting us in the near future. So better late than never, because what are we but slaves to the weather. It may hit hard on occasion, but that shouldn't stop us from hitting back and looking our best at all times. So without further ado, heres the breakdown:
/ JACKET /
When it comes to fighting back against the elements, nothing gets the job done more elegantly than a classic Burberry trench. This one in particular, The Kensington Heritage in a shorter cut (Honey/Tan), is both modern and classic; it will simply never go out of style. For a more affordable option, check out this one from ASOS.

/ WATCH /
Simply beautiful with a unique (when it comes to watches) texture, this tweed timepiece from British up-and-comer Birline is truly something to behold and will surely help you stand out in a reserved yet sophisticated way.

/ PANTS /
For a pop of spring colour these slim fit dress pants from Scotch & Soda will bring you out of the cold with a jolt of panache.

/ SHIRT /
Usually I'd only advocate for only one strong element (in this case the red pants) and subtlety across the rest of the board when it comes to crafting your daily wardrobe, but in this instance a little harbor/spring print can add a little more character to the rest of the natural (brown) look. Yet, if you still want to play it safe, I would always suggest a solid white OCBD (oxford cloth button-down) or even an indigo Japanese chambray shirt (which will accentuate the red pants as well).

/ BOOTS /
The Beatles knew it and so should you: Chelsea boots are always in style and can be paired with almost anything. In this case, they add to the streamlined and slim look of this entire getup. And while they may be leather, they certainly will hold up against the wet (or cold) days that May has brought and those in store for us.

/ UMBRELLA /
Simply put: You will need it this month (and others to come)! This one from online retailer BespokePost will provide full coverage and, as they have stated, will act as your shield. Affordable, tough as nails, double reinforced and able to withstand winds of around 55mph, the Gustbuster is the last umbrella you will have to buy (unless you happen to lose it).
So there you have it, your (and my) May style solved. Hopefully you can wear it proud and confidently.
